Rufiji River Camp
Rufiji River Camp is a long-established and highly-regarded safari lodge located on the banks of the Rufiji River, just inside the northern boundary of Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve). It holds a prime position for wildlife viewing, with animals like hippos, crocodiles, and elephants frequently seen from the camp’s main areas and individual tents. The camp is one of the oldest in the park, known for its authentic, unpretentious atmosphere and its close connection to the surrounding wilderness.
Accommodations & Amenities
The lodge offers 14 spacious and comfortable accommodations, including 11 classic tents and 3 larger family suites, all built on raised platforms with thatched roofs. Each unit features a private veranda and an en-suite bathroom with solar-heated water, designed to provide a rustic yet comfortable experience. The central lodge area, with its open-sided restaurant, bar, and a refreshing swimming pool, is a hub for socializing and enjoying the panoramic river views. Guests consistently praise the delicious food, professional and friendly staff, and the overall peaceful ambiance that allows for true immersion in the African bush.
