Upon arrival at Julius Nyerere International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel in Dar es Salaam. Take this time to relax and recover from your journey, preparing for the exciting adventure ahead. Spend the evening at leisure, perhaps enjoying dinner at the hotel or exploring the vibrant local dining scene. Overnight stay in Dar es Salaam.
After breakfast, depart Dar es Salaam for the scenic drive to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve). Upon arrival, settle into your lodge before embarking on an unforgettable afternoon boat safari along the Rufiji River. Glide quietly past hippos, crocodiles, and a dazzling array of birdlife while soaking in the tranquil beauty of the riverine wilderness. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by the sounds of the African bush.
Spend a full day exploring Tanzania’s largest protected area, Nyerere National Park. Traverse diverse habitats in search of magnificent wildlife, including elephants, lions, hippos, and the rare and elusive African wild dogs. The expansive wilderness offers exceptional opportunities for close wildlife encounters and memorable photo moments. Return to your lodge in the evening to relax and enjoy dinner. Begin the day with a morning walking safari accompanied by an experienced park ranger in Nyerere National Park. This intimate bush walk allows you to explore the smaller details of the wilderness—animal tracks, plants, and signs of wildlife offering a unique perspective on the ecosystem. After breakfast, depart for Mikumi National Park with a scenic drive of approximately 5 hours, passing through Morogoro town and beautiful landscapes. Upon arrival, check in at the lodge and enjoy dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by the sounds of the African bush.
Enjoy a full day of exciting game drives through the diverse habitats of Mikumi National Park. Explore the open plains and forested areas as you seek out a variety of wildlife, including giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, lions, and leopards. Take a break mid-day for a scenic picnic lunch in the heart of the park, surrounded by nature’s tranquility. On your back from the game drive, you will visit the Maasai boma and experience and interact with their culture. In the evening return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, take a short scenic drive of approximately 1.5 hours to Udzungwa Mountains National Park, renowned for its scenic landscape such as waterfalls, mountains and endemic primate species. Upon arrival, embark on a guided hike through the forest trails to the spectacular Sanje Waterfalls, the tallest in Tanzania. Along the way, spot vibrant birdlife, monkeys, and endemic plants. After the hike, relax and unwind at your lodge nestled within this verdant wilderness. Overnight stay in Udzungwa.
After breakfast, enjoy a scenic drive of approximately 5 hours from Udzungwa to Iringa, passing through picturesque landscapes dotted with iconic baobab trees, traditional rural villages, and farmlands. Along the way, admire the distant silhouette of the Udzingwa Mountains near Morogoro and experience the rhythms of Tanzanian countryside life. After breakfast, depart Iringa for the drive to Ruaha National Park, approximately 2 hours through scenic highland landscapes. Upon arrival, board the evening train to Dar es Salaam, enjoying a comfortable and unique journey through the heart of Tanzania. The train ride offers a relaxing way to take in the countryside before arriving in Dar es Salaam in the evening. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
