Overview

Four of the north’s parks in six days. Tarangire’s elephants and baobabs come first, then two nights at a tented camp in the central Serengeti. On the way back you spend an afternoon in the Ngorongoro Crater, and your last morning in Lake Manyara before returning to Arusha.

Arrival → Arusha → Tarangire → Karatu → Central Serengeti (2 nights) → Ngorongoro Crater → Karatu → Lake Manyara → Arusha

Day by day

Your guide adjusts each day to the wildlife, the weather and your pace.

Day 1

Arrive in Arusha

We meet you at the airport and take you to your accommodation in Arusha. The rest of the day is yours to rest.

Day 2

Tarangire National Park

Your guide collects you after breakfast for Tarangire, named after the river that keeps wildlife here in the dry season. Elephant families, giraffe, hartebeest and bushbuck are common, and lion and leopard live here too. Picnic lunch in the park, then on to Karatu.

Day 3

Into the Serengeti

Drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with views over the crater, and into the Serengeti’s open grasslands. If your visit coincides with the migration, you may see the herds on the move. Picnic lunch on the way to camp.

Day 4

A full day in the Serengeti

Game drives in the central Serengeti, looking for lion, leopard and cheetah as well as buffalo, hippos and crocodiles. Choose early and late drives with lunch at camp, or a full day out with a picnic.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater

Drive to the crater and descend for an afternoon on the crater floor, among wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and over 500 bird species. Then back up to Karatu.

Day 6

Lake Manyara, then Arusha

A last game drive in Lake Manyara, beneath the Rift Valley escarpment, with tree-climbing lions, elephants, baboons and flamingos. Picnic lunch, then we drop you in Arusha or at the airport.
