Where to go in Tanzania

From the Serengeti plains to the chimpanzee forests of Lake Tanganyika and the reefs of the Indian Ocean, Tanzania protects more of its land for wildlife than almost any other country. Each place below has its own wildlife, its own best season and its own conservation story. Tell us what you would love to see, and we will help you choose.

Northern Tanzania

The classic safari country: the Serengeti and its Great Migration, the Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire’s elephants and Lake Manyara, all linked by road from Arusha and Kilimanjaro International Airport. This is the easiest region for a first safari, and the best place to see the Big Five.
