The best of both sides of Zanzibar. Start in Stone Town with a guided walk through its history, from the site of the old slave market, where Christ Church Cathedral now stands, to the Old Fort. On the way north, visit a spice farm to see how the island’s famous spices are grown. Then spend four nights in Nungwi, at the island’s northern tip.

Day by day
Stone Town
We meet you at the airport and take you to Tembo House Hotel, about 25 minutes away. In the afternoon, a guided walk through Stone Town: Christ Church Cathedral, built on the site of the former slave market, the market, Mercury House, linked to Freddie Mercury’s childhood in Zanzibar, and the Old Fort, passing the Palace Museum, the Old Dispensary and the House of Wonders, which is being restored.
Spice farm, then Nungwi
On the drive north, visit a spice farm to learn how spices are grown and used in cooking, medicine and cosmetics, with a traditional lunch. Continue to Nungwi.
Beach days in Nungwi
Swim, sunbathe and enjoy the resort, or add a tour.
At leisure, or add a tour
A free day, perhaps for a dhow sunset cruise, Mnemba snorkelling or Jozani Forest.
Fly home or on
A last morning on the beach, then the transfer to the airport.
