The Serengeti’s wildlife moves with the seasons, so your guide plans each day around where the animals are. See when to visit.

Day 1

Arrive at Kilimanjaro, rest in Arusha

Your guide meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport with a welcome sign and drives you to your hotel to settle in.

Day 2

Tarangire National Park

A full day among the baobabs and elephant herds of Tarangire. In the dry season the Tarangire River draws large numbers of animals.

Day 3

Into the Serengeti

Cross the Ngorongoro highlands and descend to the plains, game viewing on the way to the central Serengeti.

Days 4–5

Two full days in the Serengeti

Early and late game drives, with time in between to rest at camp. Your guide follows the herds and the predators that move with them.

Day 6

Ngorongoro Crater

Drive to the crater rim and descend for a game drive on the crater floor, home to lion, buffalo, zebra and, with luck, black rhino.

Day 7

Lake Manyara National Park

A morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, through groundwater forest full of baboons and blue monkeys and down to the lakeshore, where flamingos and pelicans gather when the water allows. In the afternoon, drive to Arusha for your last night.

Day 8
