About Ecolegacy Africa

A Tanzanian safari company with its roots in conservation

Ecolegacy Africa is a Tanzanian company, headquartered in Morogoro and operating across all of Tanzania’s tourism circuits: the north, the south, the west, the mountains and Zanzibar. We plan private safaris, mountain treks, cultural journeys and beach holidays, and we run every one of them around a single idea: Adventure That Gives Back.

Our story

Ecolegacy Africa grew out of years of work in both tourism and conservation in Tanzania, including in the Serengeti ecosystem and the Ruaha landscape. Research on human-wildlife conflict, the illegal wildlife trade and the role of ecotourism showed how closely tourism, conservation and the communities around protected areas depend on each other.

Ecolegacy Africa was created to strengthen that connection. We plan journeys that give guests exceptional wildlife and landscapes, and we connect those journeys with the conservation organisations and communities that look after them.

Our mission
To offer sustainable tourism experiences that promote conservation and benefit local communities.

Our vision
To become a leader in responsible tourism in Tanzania and East Africa.

How we travel

Three commitments shape every trip we plan.
Conservation

Tourism that protects what it visits

We design safaris that respect wildlife, protect fragile habitats and support conservation work in the places we travel through.
In practice: in 2025 our guests planted native trees along the Msowero River in the Uvidunda Mountains, together with local conservation partners and the community.
Communities

Partners, not spectators

We work with the communities who live alongside wildlife, so that tourism brings them work and income.
In practice: at Chizua Waterfall, local guides lead every visit and 10% of community tourism revenue goes to village development.
Responsible travel

Small footprint, full attention

Every safari is private. We plan unhurried routes, watch wildlife from a respectful distance and keep our operations low-impact.
In practice: your own vehicle and guide, with the freedom to stop as long as you like at any sighting.

Who we work with

We work with several Tanzanian conservation organisations, community tourism enterprises and the communities in the areas our guests visit. See Adventure That Gives Back.
