Overview
A classic northern circuit with a focus on elephants. You start in Tarangire, where large herds gather along the river in the dry season, then cross the Ngorongoro highlands to the Serengeti for two nights. The Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara, known for its tree-climbing lions, complete the trip. At the end you can fly home or continue to Zanzibar.

Day by day
Arrive and settle in
Your Ecolegacy Africa driver meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and takes you to your hotel. In the evening our safari coordinator gives you a detailed briefing on the days ahead.
Tarangire National Park
A full day in Tarangire, a mix of open savannah, swamps and ancient baobabs. In the dry season elephants and other wildlife gather along the Tarangire River, and over 500 bird species have been recorded.
Across the highlands to the Serengeti
Drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, past highland forest and Maasai villages, then down onto the Serengeti plains, game viewing on the way to camp.
A full day in the central Serengeti
Explore the savannah, kopjes and riverine forest of the central Serengeti, one of Africa’s richest wildlife areas all year round. Lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant and buffalo are all found here.
Ngorongoro Crater
Descend about 600 metres into the crater for a game drive. Look for black rhino, flamingos on the soda lake and elephants in the Lerai Forest, then return to Karatu.
Lake Manyara National Park
Game drive through woodland, floodplain and along the lake, home to tree-climbing lions, hippos, blue and vervet monkeys and over 400 bird species. Afterwards, drive to your hotel for the last night.
Fly home, or add Zanzibar
Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight, or continue to Zanzibar for a few days by the sea.
