Overview
Stone Town grew over centuries as a meeting point of Swahili, Arab, Persian, Indian and European cultures, and its narrow streets, carved doors and markets are the heart of Zanzibar. This short stay combines an afternoon dhow trip to Prison Island with a half-day guided walk through the old town the next morning.
Depending on your flight times, we can add one or two more excursions, such as a spice farm or Jozani Forest.

Day by day
Arrive, and sail to Prison Island
We meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in Stone Town. In the afternoon, sail on a traditional wooden dhow to Prison Island to learn its history and see the giant tortoises that live there.
Stone Town, then fly on
A half-day guided walk through Stone Town’s winding streets and markets, past the Old Fort and the House of Wonders, which is being restored after part of it collapsed in 2020. Then back to the hotel for your bags and on to the airport.
